I've loved every one of your posts, friends, and they've all left me teary. Your witness and writing are so moving, so beautiful , and I'm grateful you are representing Union. I know that I wasn't able to make the trip b/c of my health, but still I feel regret that I'm not there, and that we only sent four students. I feel like all of Union should be there... Busloads of us! The SOA is a mind-boggling evil. Mind-boggling. Thank you. I can't say it enough. Thank you for traveling for me, for Union, and Jeremy, the Emilys & I'll have a great dinner ready for you tomorrow night in chilly NYC!

PS Lucas you look great in my shirt ;)

i particularly like the reflection on the mobile eucharist in the car--especially in the context of the shared romero story. romero was a bourgeois priest before his transformation to liberation theology, sharing the bread and water as status quo symbols of the elite, upper class of el salvador. after transformation, romero's breaking of bread was a challenge to the elite, an act of solidarity, and an expression of God's vision and aliveness.

Friends, I am so grateful to you for your witness. You will be in my thoughts and prayers all weekend. I will also hold those tortured, killed, and otherwise oppressed by SOA graduates in my heart. And I will pray for those U.S. soldiers who train SOA students and remember that their salaries are paid with my tax dollars. Someday (soon I hope) this vigil will not need to happen because the SOA/WHINSEC will be CLOSED!!
