This November 20-22 as in years past, several Union students will journey from New York City to Columbus, GA to attend the School of the Americas Watch Vigil. The Vigil was started 20 years ago by Father Roy Bourgeios and is an effort to close the SOA/WHINSEC facility at Fort Beninng. This facility trains Central and South American soldiers to go home and torture and oppress their fellow citizens. The Vigil is a faith-based, ecumenical and nonviolent action aimed at consciousness-raising both among the attendees and the military personnel on the base.

What a great tradition!I will be praying for the students Nov20-22.
It seems like every time some bad news comes out of central or south America;SOA is involved.Let’s help end it.
Yes, it’s a great tradition. Too bad I can’t go this year, as I have done so often in the past. Union’s presence there — and witness back home — is very important. Will there be a Commissioning service for those making the trip? If so, I’d want to be present.
