I have often thought of homes, schools, churches, youth groups as &quot;safe places.&quot; All of these can fail at that task, but when they&#039;re working well they are exactly that. Home in particular needs to be a child&#039;s number one &quot;safe place&quot; (heck, that&#039;s true for adults too): the place where we drop the armor, rest, play freely, learn deeply and know that love is unconditional (even when it’s corrective or challenging).  I like the image of the blank/quilt that grows and changes as the child grows, and I like the care with which you describe it.</description>
